Let STP =>Bz=0 nT, Dst=-10nT, Vsw=400 km/s
Bz=> -10nT is 1/3 less trapping
Dst=> -300 nT pushes the CDC 0.5-1.0 Re outward and makes the trap less effective, but the magnitude of the effect peaks around 7 Re
Vsw => 800 km/s is 3x better trapping
Bz =>+10 nT hardly makes any difference
Some evidence that Bz <0 prevents CDC trapping altogether, though truncation errors have not been properly estimated.
CDCs prefer Bz>0, small Dst & high pressure.
