The POLAR CEPPAD+CAMMICE PLOTS
This website is providing a link to several days of data listed below
for quick reference. The IDL code that generated these plots is found at
FTP site
A Quick Guide to:
There are 11 standard plotS for each day, though some days may be lacking
a complete set, or they may contain additional files.
The long file names can be parsed as follows:
- The day code:YYMMDDVV:
- YY= 2-digit Year
- MM= 2-digit Month
- DD= 2-digit Day of month
- VV= 2-digit Version of level zero file.
- The instrument Code:
- ips= Imaging Proton Sensor (20-1500keV),
- ies= Imaging Electron Sensor (20-400keV),
- hst= High Sensitivity Telescope, (which has 2 variants,
- hste = electrons (0.1-8 MeV),
- hstp = protons (1-80 MeV).
- The plot type:
- spec= color pixmap of energy spectrum,
- int= color pixmap of integral channel sectors
(which has high pitch angle resolution, but generally sums all but the lowest
energy channels of the instrument),
- sum= line plots of summed azimuthal sectors.
-
The extension:
- .gif= Graphics Interchange Format (the
Compuserve version of Lempel-Zif-Welch encoding),
- .ps= PostScript (Adobe formatting language),
- .jpg= JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) a lossy FFT-based compression scheme, usually giving maximum compression.
- .html=Hyper Text Markup Language which is the World-Wide-Web
way of displaying text and graphics. These files reference the above .GIF
files with cross-linked buttons.
- ( V ) Down = roll plot for HIST,IES,IPS...
- ( ^ ) Up = spectral plot for HIST, IES, IPS...
- (<<) Fast Left = Calendar of this type plot
- ( < ) Left = previous day plot
- (<>) Stop = go to original "Rob's Polar Stuff"
- ( > ) Right = next day plot
- (>>) Fast Right = Calendar of this type plot
IPS
IPS SECTOR/ROLL Integral Channel Calendar
IPS ENERGY SPECTRA Calendar
The panels in an IPS plot contain detectors between 10-90 degrees
from the spin axis. 110-170 degree detectors are not shown because
they generally reflect the 10-70 degree measurements. The angles are
NOT pitchangle, but angles from spacecraft spin axis.
- Detector @ 90 deg in head 2
- Detector @ 70 deg in head 2
- Detector @ 50 deg in head 1
- Detector @ 30 deg in head 1
- Detector @ 10 deg in head 1
- Background channel (multiplexed between 3 heads)
- L-shell + radial distance (Re) + MLT
IES
IES SECTOR/ROLL Integral Channel Calendar
IES SPECTRA Calendar
The panels in an IES plot are:
- Detector @ 90 deg
- Detector @ 70 deg
- Detector @ 50 deg
- Detector @ 30 deg
- Detector @ 10 deg
- L-shell + radial distance (Re) + MLT
HIST
HIST SECTOR/ROLL Integral Channel Calendar
HIST SPECTRA Calendar
The panels in a HIST plot vary, but are simply the L-shell plus
16 energy channels with 20deg FOV at 90 deg to the spin axis.
MICS
MICS SPECTRA Calendar
The panels in a MICS plot are DCR (all ions) roll plot, DCR (mostly H+),
He+, He++, and O+ (with some O++) spectra.
