What is Acceleration?
Entropy is often defined as S = Q/T. Thus highly energetic particles have low entropy. Often they are “bump-on-a-tail” distributions, or “power law” greater than Maxwellian. Such low-entropy conditions cannot happen spontaneously, so some other process must increase in entropy. Separating the two mechanisms, we have a classic heat-engine.
